1. There is something magical about seeing a girl with her pony. Heidi has had these two ponies since she was a little girl. Bubbles (33) and China (15). Kyla is Heidi's sweet little cousin who adores ponies just like her big cousin (who is more like a big sister). It was adorable watching Heidi help Kyla with the ponies and capturing their love for one of their most cherished passions that they inherited from their mamas.

I had a lot of fun making the flower crowns for these two girls and the flower chain for the ponies as well.

  2. In the late 40's or early 50's my Grandma Lila Lamb made this beautiful dress for herself. My mom wore it and I can remember it on her; and then my mom passed it on to my beautiful sister. This dress has stood the test of time and I am so excited to one day see it on my little girls. Especially my sweet Lila who was named after her great grandma.

I called my sister and said "Hey, want to have a photo shoot with your boys?" My sister asked if she should wear the dress and I said "Of course!"
I was instantly given vision of seeing my beautiful sister in the field I was taking them to. I prayed that the pictures I took would help my sister see the beauty that I see in her and that I know a lot of other people do too. That maybe, just maybe, she could see herself through the lens that God sees her and crafted her.

I got a handful or so of snaps and isn't my sister and this dress stunning?!

Thank you sis for allowing me to do this.
After I shared these with my sister she did say that she felt beautiful in them. BOOM! Mission accomplished. I pray that you feel this way every day sissy. Love you!

  3. I have been having fun combining my love of Young Living Essential Oils with my love of photography.

    So much fun!
DON'T WORRY my blog won't be a constant essential oil crazy house. I won't try to sell you either. This is me just having fun.

This is the three oils that have been dubbed The Allergy Trio. They seriously work well together and my house smells great.

  4. I wasn't sure what exactly to expect for my Dad's (step dad technically, but he was my dad) military service. I was told that they are beautifully done and very honoring. When we got there the Cadillac holding Jim with the American flag covering his casket was leading in the line up. The amazing people at Tahoma National Cemetery lined us up in a procession with next of kin being right behind.
I was amazed at the line up of cars that arrived that early Friday AM to pay their respects and see Jim off.
As the procession began the service men and women saluted us as we drove. Now, I have never been saluted before in my life and I realize this is a symbol of respect but goodness it brought on the tears.
The ceremony was beautiful like many had told me it would. The drive to the shelter was heart wrenching, beautiful and eye opening. On our way we saw hundreds of headstones of those before who served with their lives. Jim was one of 12 that day to be buried. So many families affected with the loss of a loved one and so many who supported their loved one in their service to their country.

The sweet veteran man who is a chaplain all dressed in his Native Tribe garments spoke of love and the goodness of God and then the 21 deafening shots rang out. You know they are coming but they still pierce your inner self and your ears. It really was beautiful.
They wrapped up Jim's flag in the perfect triangle that we are all familiar with and as the gentleman approached my mom to hand it to her that's when all the emotions hit. Flood gates of tears, sobbing and some just silent.

We are sad that Jim can't be with us but we are happy he is with Jesus, without pain and enjoying eternity with His creator.

Here are some pictures from the military service:

  5. Life has thrown my family and I a curve ball and it was in the form of losing someone we love. I am an emotionally based person and I tend to express myself in ways that would be classified as in the art form. I found myself processing my grief and even preserving the last moments that my family and I had with my stepdad before he went to be with Jesus via photography. I understand this may not be everyone's way but I am grateful I have these moments captured and so is my family.
I was blessed to witness their goodbyes and show their love.

My stepdad developed cancer and was technically a "survivor" according to medical terms these days. The cancer came back aggressively after having a Laryngectomy. My stepdad communicated as long as he could via pen and paper. His last days were spent with close family and friends. I was blessed to be holding his hand as he went to be with the Lord while his friend Justin was near his side.

It was a sadly beautiful time as I watched my stepdad's mom (91) who herself just finished radiation treatments for brain cancer come to her son's bed side to hold his hand. They had a tough relationship (the right and wrong of it doesn't mater any more). What matters is that there she was holding her baby boy's hand.

Love was there through every single tear.
Love was there through every struggle and every fear.

I am not sure how to word these moments. I think I will just let the pictures speak for themselves.

  6. I love it when my girls are willing to go play and take pictures! It doesn't happen a lot so I typically try to have an idea of something for them to wear when they jump at the idea. In this case, it was a very quick choice and I am glad they complied. I did, *cough* *cough* bribe them with a trip to Sbux for hot chocolate and a cake pop though. Shhh don't tell them, but I would have taken them either way ;)

Anyway, here a few snaps from our fun that evening. ENJOY!

  9. Meet the Glaser bunch! They are a sweet family that I really enjoyed getting to know better. I had met James & Melissa quite few years ago when I was given the opportunity to shoot at Creation.
It has been fun watching their family grow via Facebook.
As you can see they just welcomed their newest addition.
Such sweet brothers. You can tell big brother loves his new life long friend.

  10. These two. Goodness, you know when you can tell someone loves their spouse? I saw the love while interacting with these guys. I saw the way Chris looked at Rachel and that he loves her. The same for Rachel, I could tell she felt safe and loved and I could tell he felt supported and respected by his beautiful bride.

Rachel is seriously a stunning pregnant woman. She just glowed and radiated and not to mention has that perfect preggo belly I could have only dreamed of with my own babies.

Chris & Rachel, thanks for putting up with all my crazy jokes and for laughing at them. Many blessings to you both as you embark on this next adventure in your lives!

Here are some shots from their session. I hope you enjoy!

Towards the end of the session they were just kinda doing their own thing and I snapped away.
